DJ Wah-Heed was born in Brooklyn, NY and has been playing records since the age of 1. He is greatly influenced by his late Caribbean parents’ love of music, playing everything from World Beat to Funk, Gospel, Jazz, R & B, Motown, Rock, Reggae, Soca and oldies. Around 1979 after Wah-Heed heard King Tim III (Fatback Band) at Brooklyn’s Labor Day Parade, Hip-Hop took over and Rap music was included in the family record collection. Knowing no DJs personally, Wah-Heed in 1980 taught himself how to scratch 45’s and started learning how to deejay in 1984. 
 
Once he was able to convince his father to buy some turntables for Christmas, he spent many days after school learning various DJ techniques inspired by Grandmaster Flash, Africa Bambaataa, Kool Herc, Grandwizard Theodore, Grandmixer DXT, Mix Master Ice, Marley Marl, Red Alert, Chuck Chillout and the numerous DJ pioneers of that era. Wah-heed  has been playing at parties since 1985 and even started producing in the late ‘80’s and early ‘90’s as a creative outlet. He has also competed in manyDJ  battles, becoming the 1999 Mars Music Spin-off champion in Catonsville MD, winning 1st place in the 2003 Baltimore Guitar Center Spinoff, and placing as a top ten finalist in DMC for the 2003 D.C. Regionals and 2005 Baltimore region.
